Jason Michaels has written over 50 articles for CollegeHumor.com and is Pre Med at the University of Illinois.
RR:So how and why did you start submitting things to Collegehumor.com?
Great question! Not really. Just kidding. Anyways, I started writing articles for CollegeHumor during the first month of my sophomore year. Cool, right?
I chose to write for CollegeHumor because that was the only place that I thought people would get my humor. And cuz the site is really tight. That’s what he said! See what I mean?
RR:How do you get your ideas, is there a lot of planning or more off the cuff?
I get the majority of my ideas walking back from class. It’s the only time in my day when I can just think. However, over the summer when I interned with CollegeHumor, Streeter Seidell, Jake Hurwitz, and Jeff Rosenberg really helped my brainstorming process which hopefully keeps my articles consistently decent. I know that when I started writing I had five crappers for every one good one. I now like to think it’s a four-to-one ratio.
RR:Many of your submissions are actually pictures, do you use Adobe PS? If so how did you figure out that maze of filters and layers?
PSH. Adobe PS? HA! You make me laugh... I use a “Gigatron 9 System with a Dual-Getabase APS Color Sensor Modem.”
…Fine brain, I’ll tell him the truth…Yes “technically” “I” “use” “photoshop.” I figured out how to use it when I was a web-designer back in high-school. I started a company called wwwdormadvisor.com with a good buddy of mine. It’s pretty legit.
RR:Youre Pre-med at U of Illinois, is comedy in your future or science? which would you rather do?
Right now I am just keeping my options open. I love my biology classes but I also love making my mom and her co-ed softball team laugh. Go Cunning Cobras!
RR:Do people at school recognize you for your work at CH?
One time a girl at the bar thought I looked like someone she once knew, does that count?
RR:In one article you reference Counter Strike, do you play? do want to play? like right now?de_dust_24/7 baby
